Synopsis
When Bryan (Lochlyn Munro), a bigoted, hostile man, joins a rally supporting ICE agents raiding a Latino household on Día de los Muertos, he catches the attention of Carla (Maeve Garay), the household’s angry and heartbroken teenage daughter. Taking solace at her family’s ofrenda, Carla curses Bryan, hoping he will learn what it means to be human and feel her pain and sorrow. With energies and spirits awake during Halloweekend, the curse works: Bryan’s soul swaps into the body of the Latina teenager on an important night in the community he so fears.

About the filmmaker
Jill drew inspiration from her work teaching youth filmmaking with the Latino Film Institute in East Los Angeles. The children she taught helped shape the characters and the film’s focus on humanity, family, and belonging.
