COMMUNITY CURATION

Friction is a private event centering trans folks, queer folks, kinksters, and non-monogamous folks. We are providing space to dance, watch demos, and dabble in some light experimentation.

To maintain our intent:

– You don’t have to be trans, but you must be a fierce ally

– Tickets are presale ONLY and must be purchased individually to encourage review of our expectations. There are no ticket sales at the door

– We cover phone cameras with low-tac stickers

– We review our expectations with guests at the door

– We encourage wearing leather, latex, rubber, neoprene, or other gear; anything sexy, daring, experimental, queer- or kink-/fetish-coded goes

– To ensure the safety of our most marginalized guests, we reserve the right to refuse or remove anyone who does not adhere to community expectations or pass the kinky queer vibe check

 

COMMUNITY EXPECTATIONS

– No racism, transphobia, homophobia, xenophobia, sexism, ableism, antisemitism, islamophobia, body shaming, or other forms of discrimination

– Absolutely NO photos permitted; we will cover phone cameras with low-tac stickers

-Explicit verbal consent required to touch or dance with one another

– Genitals must be covered 

– No penetration or exchange of fluids are permitted

– Face your friends, not the DJ

– No smoking or vaping inside the venue

– No weapons; bags subject to search

– Cash bar only. Visibly intoxicated individuals will be asked to leave. Do not drive under the influence; we will help you find a ride!

– Masks, ear plugs, first aid kit, & Narcan available at door 

 

TICKETING STRUCTURE

– Tickets are available at a rate of $20 + service fees via Zoetropolis.com through 8 PM on Monday, 11/9

– Tickets are available at a LAST CHANCE rate of $30 + service fees through 8 PM on Tuesday, 11/10

– $50 MUTUAL AID tickets are available until the final cutoff date of 8 PM on 11/10.  This grants you admission to the party and covers admission for an attendee who may need financial assistance!

– If you need financial assistance attending, email djstygianlancaster@gmail.com to inquire about mutual aid ticket availability. We will either hook you up or put you on our first-come, first-served list to be notified as more mutual aid tickets become available

– Unused mutual aid ticket funds will be kept in reserve for future Friction NOTAFLOF needs

 

AN IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT OUR SPACE

While we are otherwise a private event, our bathrooms are shared with our neighbors, Columbia Kettleworks and the soon-to-open Cozy. To do our best to ensure your comfort and safety are given priority, we will:

– Cover the windows to the bar and the windows on doors to neighboring businesses

– Put up clear, visible signage on all doors explaining we are a private event and photography is not permitted 

– Post staff at neighboring business doors

– Enforce our expectations up to and including letting folks who attempt to violate them know they will not be welcome at future events
