Boneology is a New York City’s hottest up-and-coming jazz trombone ensemble.  Led by three of the brightest young voices in jazz, Tim Zettlemoyer, Sam Dimov, and Eli Howell, Boneology performs fresh new arrangements that pay homage to the great trombone ensembles of the past, all while pushing the technical boundaries of the trombone.  Boneology regularly features veteran musicians and bright new voices alike with a rotating guest artist schedule.

Tim Zettlemoyer has performed with legendary musicians including: Mike Rodriguez, Terell Stafford, Dick Oatts, Donald Harrison, Nicholas Payton, Robert Edwards and Shayna Steele. Zettlemoyer has also had the privilege of performing on international-level stages such as Rose Hall Theater Jazz At Lincoln Center, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Blue Note NYC, Chris’ Jazz Cafe, and Bb Club Akasaka in Japan. Tim is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts from New York University and has earned a Bachelor of Art degree from Millersville University and Master of Music from Temple University. Tim’s debut record, Stepping Out, is scheduled to release in August of 2026.

Sam Dimov has since performed with artists such as Aubrey Logan, Andre Hayward, Joel Frahm, Danny Jonokuchi, Kate Kortum, and Diego Rivera. He’s also worked in groups such as the Christian Wiggs Big Band, The Eyal Vilner Swing Band, Sofrito y Su Melao, and Mike Sailors’ Nonet. Sam was a member of the 2025 Broadway National Tour of The Addams Family. Sam earned a B.M. in Jazz Studies from Temple University and a M.M. in Jazz Studies from UT Austin and has released two studio albums, All Day Affair (2024) and Back For More (2025).

Eli Howell has been recognized as a two time finalist for the International Trombone Festival Jazz Competition, American Trombone Workshop Jazz Competition. Eli has had the pleasure of performing all over the world in amazing venues such as The Hollywood Bowl, Birdland Jazz Club, the Detroit Jazz Festival, the Chengdu International Music Festival held in Chengdu China and many more. Eli has had the pleasure of collaborating with amazing musicians such as Christian McBride, Kurt Elling, Lewis Nash, Steve Davis, Renee Rosnes, Gerald Clayton, Bob James, Ulysses Owens Jr., Bill Cundliffe, and Walter Blanding Jr. Eli earned his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from Michigan State University. Eli has released his first record, Steps Taken (2026) which can be found on all streaming platforms.
