Kick off 2024 with SFMS at Zoetropolis in Lancaster as we join with WXPN in welcoming the Black Opry Revue Tour!
Come discover, support and enjoy two up-and-coming Black musicians who are making magic in the roots music space. This show features singer-songwriter and storyteller Sug Daniels, and multi-talented blues artist King Jester.
Black music lovers and music makers, often overlooked and disregarded in the music business, are finding a home in Black Opry, which showcases the diversity in sound and stories that Black artists offer to country, blues, folk and Americana.
SFMS is delighted to be participating in the Black Opry Revue tour, and delighted to amplify the music of these and other marginalized artists.
Sug Daniels is a Delaware born, Philadelphia based, singer-songwriter, story teller, and producer who is using the tools around her to capture the emotions of an era. Daniels’ work is as colorful, vulnerable, and charismatic as her personality. She thoughtfully combines elements of folk, R&B, and soul alternatives to create personal and tender music interlaced with messages of truth and positive change.
King Jester (Jes) grew up in Philadelphia, steeped in Classic Soul, R&B, Rock, and Classical music. His musical journey includes the Berklee College of Music (entering as a drummer, leaving as a bass player) and stints with Sting, Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, Bruce Katz, and many more. During their time together, jazz vocalist Abbey Lincoln referred to King Jester as “the future of music.” Now back in Philadelphia, he is writing and producing with other blues-based artists. Following in the footsteps of many jazz and blues greats, he has transitioned from hired gun to band leader.
