Find Your Voice, Unblock Your Creativity, and Gain the Courage to Share Your Songs

Where do songs come from? How can we tap into that mysterious flow of creativity? How can songwriting be a tool for healing? And how do we find the courage to play our own songs in front of others?

In this workshop, we’ll explore how everyone has an inherent musicality, and a story to tell. You can draw from real-life experiences, emotions, and even the simplest moments to inspire your songs.

In this 2-hour workshop, you’ll:

  • Unblock Your Creativity: Learn how to get out of your own way and let the songs flow naturally.
  • Gain the Courage to Share Your Work: Tips and practices to help you feel confident playing your songs for others.
  • Lyrics vs. Melody: Discuss how some songwriters start with words, while others start with a melody — and how to find the balance that works for you.
  • Draw from Everyday Life: Learn how to pull ideas from conversations, experiences, and observations around you, tapping into the musicality we all carry within.
  • Explore Songwriting as Healing: Discover how writing songs can be a way to process emotions, heal, and express parts of yourself that may be difficult to put into words.

Maya, a Lancaster County native who’s been based in Nashville for over a decade, has made her mark as a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. In addition to performing as a singer-songwriter, she has facilitated therapeutic songwriting work with veterans around the country and has worked as an instructor at various music camps. She knows first-hand the power of opening up and sharing your personal work, and she’s excited to help you do the same.

All “levels” are welcome — come as you are and leave feeling inspired and ready to write!
