A very special event hosted by Janine and Axel of Zoe’s Revival Series: Dasha Nekrasova’s “The Scary of Sixty-First.
The director will be in attendance, with a Q and A moderated by fellow filmmaker and frequent collaborator, Eugene Kotlyarenko.
Filmmaker and actress Dasha Nekrasova, known for her remarkable effect on culture via her influential and notorious cult podcast, “Red Scare,” was awarded Best First Feature at last year’s Berlin Film Festival for her debut, showing – one night only – at Zoetropolis.
In “The Scary of Sixty-First,” two roommates’ lives are upended after discovering that their new Manhattan apartment harbors a dark secret. Blending elements of conspiracy theory, cultural critique, psychological horror, and mania, Nekrasova draws inspiration from Roman Polanski’s Apartment Trilogy and Stanley Kubrick’s “Eyes Wide Shut” to examine themes of evil, power, and corruption.
Curated by Janine and Axel of Guermantes Vintage and Strange Desires.
The Revival Series will feature a variety of films from modern selections to obscure, cult and classic cinema with dark themes and strong aesthetics. We have a feeling they’ll be keeping it weird, just how we like it.
